Hi All visitors.
Let me introduce myself. I am 26AT016 Paul and I have been with the Alfa Tango Family for 30yrs in November 2009. I started with the group in 1979 and have had the callsigns 26AT166 then 26AT066 before being given my current call. MY HOMEPAGE is at http://www.members.26alfatango.co.uk .
I have seen three 11yr cycles of DX since I first started on the bands so as you can imagine I class myself as an experienced operator. I can even remember the days when the 26 division was on the most wanted DX countries list and a well sought after country.
I started like most operators on the old 40 channel AM CB’s which where usually smuggled in to the country via the continental truck drivers. I regularly worked DX on the AM with 4 watts before becoming interested in SSB. Once I was on the SSB I was a regular voice on the old channel 44 hi band which was the worldwide DX call frequency before being replaced years later by the Alfa Tango Group call frequency of 27.555.
Then in 1979 I made a contact with an Italian Alfa Tango member who sent me an invitation to join their small up and coming group which I applied for never imagining what this group would achieve and that I would still be a member 30yrs later.
I was a very active member of the official 26 AT Division in the early years promoting the division and my
I was also one of the founder members of the original 26AT000 callsign which was given to our County by Aldo and was known as 26AT000 Club Station Lancashire which I hope some of you remember. I also wrote the rules and regulations which are still in force for the operation of AT club stations.
I have seen the 26 Division go through many changes and seen many operators and officials come and go. However many years ago I along with a small number of other 26 members decided for reasons which I will not go into on this website decided to leave the official 26 division and renew our membership direct to Asti instead. I and the others where quite happy with this way of renewal however we lost the family feeling of being a 26 member and access to division activities, meetings, information and materials.
Then last year (2008) a lot more members left the official 26 division and are now renewing direct to
Due to the ever growing amount of members who have now left the official 26 division behind I have personally decided to offer these members the opportunity of a website they can call their own and offer them a voice via the internet.
If the 26 division is ever reunited as one group with all members renewing via the 26 division this website will be removed immediately.
Until this happens I intend to make this site a one stop shop with access to as much 11mtr information as possible for ALL 26AT Callsign users regardless of who they renew by.
